A basic explanation of the parts of speech

A noun describes a person, place, thing, or idea.

A verb describes an action or a state of being.

A pronoun is used to replace a noun.

An adverb modifies a verb, adjective, or another adverb.

An adjective modifies or describes a noun or a pronoun.

A preposition shows the relationship bbetween a nooun or a pronoun and some other owrd in the sentence.

A conjunction is used to link words or parts of sentences together.
